About me

Katarzyna Rymorz

I graduated from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. In my studio in Cieszyn, Poland, I paint interpretations – copies – of Old Master paintings. My great love is the art of the Netherlands of the 16th and 17th centuries.

A passion for detail and precision has led me to specialise in still lifes, especially flower pieces, and in portraits.

Repeating the work of a great master is, for me, a tribute to the excellence of the original. I paint for people who love the Old Masters and want to bring the wonder of the great museums into their own homes.

The studio

How a painting is made

Every copy means many hours of work and a dialogue with an Old Master – about his light, colour and craft.

I

Studying the original

Each copy begins with an in-depth study of the subject, the technique and the history of the original.

II

Old Master techniques

Oil paint on linen canvas, underpainting and glazes, layer by layer – just as in a 17th-century workshop.

III

The finest materials

Professional pigments and durable supports, finished with a satin varnish. The painting will last for decades, even centuries.

IV

Frame and certificate

Your painting arrives framed and ready to hang, with a certificate describing the technique, materials and original.

Detail and texture

The body of the paint, the brushstrokes, the depth of the layers – you can see and feel it all. You can lose yourself in a hand-painted work. No reproduction can give you that.

In the interior

How will the painting look in your home?

A classic work becomes the focal point of a room – bringing history, soul and elegance. Before you decide, I can prepare a visualisation of the painting in a photo of your space.
